HUGER, S.C.—Shortly before 10 a.m., the Berkeley Co. Rescue Squad along with the assistance of the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office located the body of 52-year-old Laura Lynch of Wando. Authorities located the woman’s body in a wooded area off of Green Bay Road.
According to Berkeley Co. Coroner Bill Salisbury, Lynch was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed along the same stretch of road on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Mount Pleasant Police stated that on Thursday, officers began chasing after a vehicle for reckless driving along Highway 17 near Oakland Market. The pursuit ended near Highway 41 in Berkeley County.
Authorities say the driver, Michael Browder, 42, and Lynch, who was a passenger in the vehicle, both bailed out of the vehicle.
Browder was eventually arrested and is currently in jail in Charleston County. He faces multiple charges including failure to stop for blue lights, unlawful transport of alcohol, third offense driving under suspension, etc. His bond was set at more than $24,000. He is due back in court on June 13, 2014.
Crews searched again Sunday on horseback for Lynch but were not able to find her. They picked back up with the search around 9 a.m. Monday with a SLED helicopter and K9 assisting.
At this time, Lynch’s official cause of death has not been determined; however, Salisbury says the woman did have a few medical problems including asthma.
