MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–According to Berkeley Co. Sheriff Spokesperson Dan Moon, two suspects have been arrested and 138 “One-Pot” meth labs were seized after drug agents with the department searched a home at 697 Serenity Circle in Moncks Corner Tuesday.
Following up on a tip of a possible meth lab at that address, deputies found two individuals with amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana in their possession.
A more thorough search uncovered the 138 “One Pot” Meth labs as well as precursors for the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Deputies also seized weapons including two rifles, one shotgun, one bow and one crossbow.
John Mathew Selepack, 57, and Sara Elaine Aikman, 27, of Moncks Corner were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine and are being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
Meth cooks using the “one-pot” method do so by combining anhydrosammonia, pseudoephedrine tablets, water and reactive metal into one container when starting the manufacturing process.
Law officials say, however, that the concentration of products in the container can build up pressure, creating a rupture or bursting the container and exposing the ingredients into the air.
Deputies warn that the growing use of the one-pot method increases the risk of explosions, fires, injuries and exposure to dangerous chemicals.
