Students Win Berkeley Water & Sanitation Drinking Water Week Poster Contest

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Six students from J.K. Gourdin Elementary School and three from Macedonia Middle School won Berkeley County Water & Sanitation’s (BCWS) Drinking Water Week Poster Contest.

Every year BCWS hosts a poster contest to celebrate water. The contest leads up to National Drinking Water Week, which is sponsored by the American Water Works Association.

The contest is open to students in Kindergarten through eighth grade in public, private or home schools.

Three winners are selected from three categories: K – 2^nd, 3^rd – 5^th, and 6^th – 8^th grade. Category winners receive checks for $100 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

Below are the first, second and third place winners for each category:

Kindergarten – 2^nd Grade

1^st Place: Malachi Milligan-Stafford (2^nd Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

2^nd Place: Amiyah Gadsden (1^st Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

3^rd Place: Jordan Jenkins (2^nd Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

 

3^rd – 5^th Grade

1^st Place: Za’Narah Green (5^th Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

2^nd Place: Kendra Milligan (5^th Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

3^rd Place: Desmond Brown (5^th Grader – J.K. Gourdin Elementary School)

 

6^th – 8^th Grade

1^st Place: Juana Sanchez (7^th Grader – Macedonia Middle School)

2^nd Place: Destini Bartell (8^th Grader – Macedonia Middle School)

3^rd Place: Kyla French (7^th Grader – Macedonia Middle School)

 

These students will be recognized for their awesome work and presented with their monetary prizes at the Berkeley County Council meeting this Monday, May 11, 2015, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
