GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek police say a Moncks Corner man broke into Cars and Moore auto dealership over the weekend and then tried to run from officers.

Police say that shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, they were dispatched to 137 St. James Ave. in reference to an activated alarm.

The first officer on scene stated that he saw a man jumping the fence behind the dealership.

As officers set up a perimeter, they say they noticed that the rear glass door was shattered.

Officers say they searched the area and found Timothy York hiding within the crawlspace under the Shelly Leak Law Firm–which is behind Cars and Moore.

Officers removed York from the crawlspace and detained him for investigation.

Police say they viewed the video surveillance system inside the auto dealership and verified that York had been inside the Cars and Moore building.

“York also said he has been using meth for about a year and it is destroying his life. York advised me that during the time of the burglary he said he was unaware of his actions and doesn’t remember any of it. York said he is also going through withdrawals,” read the incident report.

York was arrested and transported to Trident Medical Center for evaluation.

“During every question York answered Gable (the officer) by saying “fuck you” or by displaying his middle finger towards him. York then began to try to remove his restraints and said on numerous occasions that he was going to assault me and Gable,” read the incident report.

After a medical evaluation, York was transported to the Berkeley County Detention Center.

He has been charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Trespassing on Private Property, Assaulting or Resisting a Public Official or Police Officer, and Tampering with Motor Vehicle.
