BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Red Cross officials, disaster-trained volunteers assisted a family of four, two adults and two children, whose home located on North Highway 17A in Bonneau, sustained major damage by fire.

The Bonneau Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The Red Cross provided the family with financial assistance for food, clothing, and shoes, along with comfort kits containing personal hygiene items, and referrals to partner agencies to help with the victims’ long-term recovery.

Last year, the Palmetto South Carolina Region assisted more than 7,000 individuals affected by disaster.
