Berkeley County Sheriff Office Warrant Sweep Leads To 82 Arrests

berkeley county sheriff deputy carMONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced today that his office conducted a multi-agency warrant sweep and criminal saturation patrol last week that ended with over 82 arrests.

The sweep and saturation patrol was carried out on Thursday, July 30th and Friday, July 31st in the Sangaree, College Park and Tall Pines areas, as well as in the communities surrounding Ladson and Summerville.

The operation was done in conjunction with the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Target Zero campaign with the assistance of the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Target Zero Task Force.

Joining the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in the operation were members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, South Carolina Highway Patrol, South Carolina Probation and Parole, Summerville Police Department, Goose Creek Police Department, Hanahan Police Department and several South Carolina State Constables.

The number of officers working the sweep each night was over 100.

The results of the operation include 82 arrests:

  • 28 for Warrants, including one for Strong Armed Robbery and several for Assault and Battery
  • 27 for Drug Charges
  • 4 for Firearms Violations, including one for a stolen firearm
  • 10 for DUI
  • 9 for Traffic Offenses
  • 4 for Miscellaneous Arrest Charges

“The success of this sweep is a testament to what working together with our federal, state and local partners can do to help make Berkeley County a safer place to live, work and play,” said Sheriff Lewis. “I want to thank each of our partners who came out to help with this operation. It is this type of cooperation that is essential to the betterment of our communities.”
