BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to BCSD Spokesperson Aimee Murray, Jimmy Huskey, Principal of Goose Creek High School, and Cynthia McBride, Athletic Director at Goose Creek High School, have been placed on administrative leave.

Jim Haynes is currently acting principal at the school.

“Though the district cannot comment on the reason as to why the employees have been placed on administrative leave, it does want to offer more information about the nature of administrative leave,” stated Murray. “Administrative leave is a standard procedure when addressing issues involving personnel matters. The process is kept confidential and is done in an effort to conduct a fair and thorough exploration of all facts regarding the situation.”

According to an AP report, Huskey and McBride are both accused of tampering with a student-athlete’s grades.

The two officials reportedly directed a guidance counselor at the school to change a student-athlete’s grades from “failure due to absences” to passing grades.

In 2011, McBride was named “Assistant Principal of the Year.”  According to BCSD, she received her math degree from the College of Charleston and her Master of Arts in teaching from The Citadel. She began her teaching career at Macedonia High School prior to moving to Goose Creek High, where she served as math teacher and administrative assistant until 2007 when she was named Assistant Principal.
