GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Berkeley County School District officials, following an investigation, Jimmy Huskey, Principal of Goose Creek High School, and Cynthia McBride, Athletic Director at Goose Creek High School, have both been allowed to return to work.
“The District will have no further comment on this matter due to the confidential nature of any information regarding student educational records, which are protected from disclosure by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act,” stated BCSD Spokesperson Aimee Murray.
According to an AP report, Huskey and McBride had been accused of tampering with a student-athlete’s grades.
The two officials reportedly directed a guidance counselor at the school to change a student-athlete’s grades from “failure due to absences” to passing grades.
Huskey and McBride were then placed on administrative leave.
“Administrative leave is a standard procedure when addressing issues involving personnel matters. The process is kept confidential and is done in an effort to conduct a fair and thorough exploration of all facts regarding the situation,” stated Murray.
