BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Jonah Petty, a 6th grade student at Marrington Middle School of the Arts, was recognized on Thursday, August 27, by Charlie T. RiverDog for winning 92 tickets to a RiverDogs game through the Cool Kid Contest hosted by Kickin’ Country 92.5.
“I was really surprised that I won the contest out of all of the other kids who entered! I am excited about my 92 tickets too! I plan to give them to my baseball team and my friends at school,” said Petty.
Petty’s mother submitted a letter to Kickin’ Country 92.5 explaining her son’s volunteer activities, which include Relay for Life and Back to School Angels.
Back to School Angels is a program that provides backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need. Petty was able to provide 75 children with backpacks and supplies this year!
Principal of Marrington Middle School of the Arts, Dr. Jim Spencer, said, “I am so very proud of Jonah! When a child donates his or her time to obtain and fill book bags with school supplies for children less fortunate, he or she is truly a winner!”
