GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–As the City of Goose Creek continues to grow and evolve, so does the importance of cultural arts in the community.
With that in mind, the Goose Creek Recreation Commission is forming a cultural arts committee – and is looking for interested residents to serve. Committee members must reside in the Goose Creek Recreation District, which encompasses all of the City as well as several outlaying areas and neighborhoods.

Gary Stuber is the executive director of the commission, and the City’s recreation director. Stuber said a focus on cultural arts enriches the experience of every resident, making Goose Creek an even more attractive place to live.
“It’s about quality of life,” Stuber said. “Goose Creek is known for our athletics, and that’s important. But cultural arts are becoming more important as well.”
The popularity of the City’s “Sounds of Summer” concert series is one recent example of that importance. Stuber said the City’s long term plans include the construction of an outdoor amphitheater and a cultural arts building that could host music, theater, community performances and more.
The Goose Creek Recreation Commission is an advisory board to Goose Creek City Council.
