BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler released a status update on the flooding in Berkeley County, while also announcing updated road closures and a status on government operations for tomorrow.

“Berkeley County is full of hard-working, generous and resilient people,” said Peagler. “These characteristics have shown through in the past few days – neighbors assisting neighbors while the flood waters rose, folks opening their homes to family and friends displaced, and residents starting the restoration process. These characteristics have also shown through with our county employees, particularly our first responders, who put their own lives on the line to help our residents. While I know many in Berkeley County have a hard road ahead to get their lives back to normal, I hope they can find some comfort in knowing our County Government and County employees are committed to doing all they can to make life in Berkeley County great again as quickly as possible.”

Peagler also announced this afternoon that all Berkeley County Government Offices will be open tomorrow.

While there will be no court proceedings tomorrow, the County Courthouse and offices within will be open tomorrow. Also, jurors are exempt for the rest of the week per an order by the South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice.

The Berkeley County landfill will have extended hours tomorrow and Wednesday, opening at 7:30 AM and closing at 6:00 PM. Accessible Berkeley County Water and Sanitation Convenience Centers will have regular hours tomorrow.
