GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–A new restaurant has arrived in Goose Creek. Mayor Michael Heitzler recently stopped by Carolima’s to welcome the new business – which features Gullah-style Lowcountry cuisine – to the city.

Carolima’s was established  by Sameka Jenkins who grew up in Mt. Pleasant. There, she says her family often prepared meals derived from their Gullah culture.

While entertaining friends, Jenkins says she discovered a passion for preparing great food and watching others enjoy her dishes. She began cooking in college for her roommates and from there it grew into requests to cater large dinner and birthday parties.

According to Jenkins, she is most relaxed when in the kitchen, trying new recipes and preparing her favorite dishes.

At Carolima’s, the menu includes such southern favorites like fried pork chops, fried chicken, corn muffins, macaroni and cheese, collard greens and much more.

Carolima’s also offers catering, and is located at 5D South Alliance Drive.
