GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Goose Creek Police, an assistant principal at Stratford High was assaulted while trying to break up a fight between two students.

Around 12:50 p.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Stratford Highย School was notified of a fight in the cafeteria between a 17-year-oldย Xavier Christopherย and an unnamed 16-year-old student, Captain John Grainger stated.

Theย school resource officer reportedlyย attempted to take Christopherย into custody but he is said to have violently resisted.

Authorities say the school resource officerย utilized hisย taser and eventually handcuffed the Christopherย and took him out of the cafeteria and into theย courtyard to await medics.

Officers say Christopherย then attempted to escape while still handcuffed, and the school resource officer used his taser to regain custody, Grainger stated.

Police say Christopher was later transported to the Berkeley County Detention center on charges of
Assault and Battery 3rd degree, Disturbing School, and Resisting Arrest.
