GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Goose Creek Police, an assistant principal at Stratford High was assaulted while trying to break up a fight between two students.
Around 12:50 p.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Stratford High School was notified of a fight in the cafeteria between a 17-year-old Xavier Christopher and an unnamed 16-year-old student, Captain John Grainger stated.
The school resource officer reportedly attempted to take Christopher into custody but he is said to have violently resisted.
Authorities say the school resource officer utilized his taser and eventually handcuffed the Christopher and took him out of the cafeteria and into the courtyard to await medics.
Officers say Christopher then attempted to escape while still handcuffed, and the school resource officer used his taser to regain custody, Grainger stated.
Police say Christopher was later transported to the Berkeley County Detention center on charges of
Assault and Battery 3rd degree, Disturbing School, and Resisting Arrest.
