BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Frank B. Rollins, 61, of North Charleston and Thyrone Burden, 31, also of North Charleston are behind bars for nearly a dozen car burglaries.

On October 18th,  deputies say they responded to a commercial burglary in progress on Farmington Road in the Summerville area of Berkeley County. Once on scene, deputies say they discovered the catalytic converters had been removed from nine vehicles on the lot of the business.

Rollins and Burden were arrested following a brief pursuit through a nearby wooded area. At the time of their arrest, Rollins and Burden were said to be in possession of burglary tools and the stolen catalytic converters were located nearby, authorities stated.

Detectives say they are continuing the investigation to see if Rollins and Burden are connected with a recent rash of catalytic converter thefts in the Summerville and Ladson areas of Berkeley County in which dozens of catalytic converters were removed from vehicles parked at area used car lots.

“The swift response and diligent work by the deputies in this case is exceptional. While it is unfortunate that the suspects have opted to live a life of crime, I am glad that we were able to capture them and get them off the streets,” stated Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis.

Lewis is asking anyone with additional information to contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at 843-719-4412.
