GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–If you enjoy a good scare, you may not want to skip this week’s historical lecture at the Goose Creek Municipal Center.

Two days before Halloween, Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler will explore “Goose Creek Ghosts and Legends” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.  The special Halloween edition of the Mayor’s “Goose Creek Backyard History Series” is free and open to all ages.

The popular series, held in City Council chambers, continues every Thursday through Nov. 12.

Goose Creek Ghosts and Legends will see the Mayor tell – with the help of a special guest – some of the area’s legendary ghost stories.

Mayor Heitzler has authored five history books and 12 historical booklets focused on Goose Creek and the surrounding area. His lectures are an entertaining mix of legend and lore, told with the Mayor’s unique sense of history and humor.

Upcoming topics for the series include in-depth looks at Tanner Plantation at Bowen’s Corner, White House Plantation, Steepbrook Plantation, Button Hall, Woodstock and Windsor Hill.
