BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Thursday evening, multiple fire departments responded to a mobile home fire in Santee Circle.
Crews say once they arrived on scene EMS transported an elderly man to Trident Hospital for multiple burns to his body.
“He had burns on his hands, arms and one leg,” stated Chief Scott Lee with Moncks Corner Rural. “Neighbors say they found him in the yard on the ground.”
Santee Circle Rural Volunteer Fire Department was the lead agency. Crews say after arriving on scene, the victim’s double wide trailer was fully involved.
According to Lee, the fire also spread to a car and two propane tanks.
“The tanks were leaking and were ignited by the fire,” stated Lee.
Firefighters say it took crews about an hour to put the fire out.
The condition of the elderly man as well as the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Other agencies assisting included Macedonia and Cordesville.
