Ralph Quindo, a 7th grade student from Hanahan Middle School, claimed the top prize. Forty-seven students in grades six through eight competed to be the top speller.
Daniel Island School 8th grade student, Emily Williams, was the first runner-up, and Hanahan Middle 8th grader, Logan Dunn, placed third. Quindo, Williams, Dunn and 10 other top finishers will advance to Spellbound, the Lowcountry’s regional spelling bee, which is sponsored by The Post and Courier.
