Berkeley County Deputies Arrest Man for Burglary at Cell Phone Store

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 31-year-old Richard Douglas Johnson Jr. of Harbour Lake Drive in the Goose Creek section of Berkeley County in connection to a burglary at the Metro PCS store on North Main Street in the Summerville area of Berkeley County.

During the early morning hours on March 16th, sheriff’s deputies responded to burglary in progress at the Metro PCS store North Main Street in Summerville.

Responding deputies were advised that the suspects were driving a silver SUV on Turtle Pond Road headed for North Main Street. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants were detained as detectives reviewed the surveillance video from the Metro PCS store.

Johnson was positively identified as being the individual who burglarized the business. The driver of the vehicle, 25 year old Deja Shaylae Henderson, was released after detectives determined that she did not knowingly participate in the burglary.

Johnson, who has an extensive criminal history, was transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center and has been charged with Burglary Second Degree, a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.

Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis stated, “I’m happy to see that our deputy’s quick response resulted in putting another repeat offender behind bars.”
