Below, we recently asked Lord the following questions:

1. Why are you seeking election?
I am seeking election to be more involved in the city. I have been a resident of Goose Creek for 18 years. I like Goose Creek as it is. I would like to help maintain the course we’re on. I would also like to be a voice for the citizens of the city. I will carry their concerns and ideas to the council in order to discuss and address their needs.

2. What is your educational background?
I have an associates degree in Marketing from Trident Technical College.

3. What is your current profession?
I am currently employed through Berkeley County Schools at Westview Primary School as the Assist Lab Manager.

4. Family?
I’ve been married for 25 years to Stephen Lord. I have a daughter, Alexandra, who is a first year teacher at Boulder Bluff Elementary. I have a son, Jordan, who is in college and works for the Berkeley County School, Westview Primary, after school program.

5. What changes would you like to bring to Goose Creek?
I don’t see a lot of necessary changes personally for Goose Creek. I like the course we’re on. We would like to preserve the “green space” by not over developing. I would like to see us working with police and fire to insure the safety of the areas that have been developed and that have grown throughout the city.

6. Why should voters vote for you over the other candidates?
I feel I have a strong connection to the community through my years of involvement with the schools. I served as an officer in the schools for many years. I was a leader in Girl Scouts. My children and spouse were very involved in the recreational activities in the city. I am a people person and truly have a heart for the people and care for their concerns.

7.  Anything else worth mentioning?
I feel my ties to the people in the community and my willingness to listen, address, and learn make me a strong candidate for the position of city council.
