A Berkeley County teen has been charged with arson after a fire broke out at a Lexington County house.

According to the arrest warrants, John Bradley Wiley, 17, of Ladson has been charged with third degree arson after willfully and maliciously setting a fire that caused extensive damage to a home in the 100 block of Scoggins Drive in Lexington.

โ€œThrough our investigation, we determined the suspect was igniting a flammable body spray in the carport,โ€ Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. โ€œThe investigation is still open and more charges are expected.โ€

Koon said Wiley was arrested Saturday without incident at the scene of the fire. He was released from the Lexington County Detention Center on $9,000 bond.

The Lexington County Fire Service responded to the fire. An LCFS cause-and-origin investigator determined the fire caused $60,000 in damages after flames spread from the carport throughout the attic.
