A Berkeley County teen has been charged with arson after a fire broke out at a Lexington County house.

According to the arrest warrants, John Bradley Wiley, 17, of Ladson has been charged with third degree arson after willfully and maliciously setting a fire that caused extensive damage to a home in the 100 block of Scoggins Drive in Lexington.

“Through our investigation, we determined the suspect was igniting a flammable body spray in the carport,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The investigation is still open and more charges are expected.”

Koon said Wiley was arrested Saturday without incident at the scene of the fire. He was released from the Lexington County Detention Center on $9,000 bond.

The Lexington County Fire Service responded to the fire. An LCFS cause-and-origin investigator determined the fire caused $60,000 in damages after flames spread from the carport throughout the attic.
