When a Hanahan Fire Truck Rushes By, These Dogs “Cheer” Them On

HANAHAN, S.C.–Recently, the Hanahan Fire Department was rushing to the scene of a call with sirens blaring.

The loud sirens quickly caught the attention of two curious dogs.

As the truck sped by their master’s house, they started howling right along in perfect harmony at the fire truck.

While we’d like to think the adorable dogs were “cheering” them on, science may have another explanation.

Like sirens, howls contain high-pitched sounds, and scientists think that a dog howls when he hears a siren because the dog thinks he is hearing a howl from another dog. That is, the dog thinks he is communicating with another dog!
