BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Life in law enforcement doesn’t always involving arresting bad guys, sometimes it involves protecting those on four legs, too.

On Monday afternoon, Major David Brabham was driving along Highway 17-A in Moncks Corner when a Pit Bull puppy darted out into the road.

Without hesitation, the long-time deputy turned his vehicle around and got the puppy out of traffic.

Come to find out, the puppy wasn’t alone. It had a sibling, too, and a mother nearby.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Brabham kept the dogs in a safe location until Animal Control could respond to the scene.

While waiting, the puppies and their mother drank a bottle of water out of Brabham’s hands.

“Great job!! Nice to know there are still good and caring people!! YOU ROCK MAJOR BRABHAM!!” posted Brenda Lee on Facebook.

“Bless you! Hope they find loving homes,” stated Kay Withrock.

After the sheriff’s office posted of photo of Brabham giving the dog’s water on Facebook, it’s since been shared more than 250 times  and generated more than 1.8K likes. Of course, that number will likely increase.
