A Berkeley County woman who authorities say drove her three children into the ocean in Daytona Beach, Florida asked a judge Monday morning for supervised visits with her children, but her request was denied.

“For something like this to happen to you and not have your babies, it’s the hardest thing for a mom like me to have gone through, said Ebony Wilkerson, who spoke publicly for the first time to WKMG-TV.

According to Volusia County deputies, in early March 2014, Wilkerson locked the doors of her 2012 Honda Odyssey, put up the windows and told her three frightened children to close their eyes and go to sleep.

She reportedly then ignored the children’s pleas for help, Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators learned, insisting that she was taking herself and her three children to “a safer place.”

The Cross mother was reportedly visiting family in the Daytona Beach area when the incident occurred.

Authorities charged Wilkerson with three counts of child abuse and three counts of attempted murder.

children.

The judge on Monday agreed with the therapist recommendations that face-to-face visitation would be beneficial, but wants a detailed supervision plan in place before approving the motion.

“(I will) not give up, because my babies need me and I need my babies,” Wilkerson told multiple media outlets.

The children are reportedly with their father.
