BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a vehicle break-in at Charity Church located at 2093 Cainhoy Road in the Huger area of Berkeley County.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1st, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle break-in at the Charity Church in Huger. While church members were attending services, the suspect broke out a rear passenger window and stole approximately $350 worth of items from the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video and appears to be a 35 – 45-year-old African-American male wearing a light colored shirt and shorts. The suspect was driving a dark color full size SUV that is likely a 1999-2000 GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade. He may be identifiable from his clothing.

Detectives are hoping that someone may be able to identify the suspect from still images created from the surveillance video.

Sheriff Lewis stated, “It is just terrible that this suspect chose to prey on people while they were worshiping. This person needs to be caught and the citizens have been so great with helping us identify criminals – I really hope that someone is able to help us identify this suspect.”
