MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – As Tropical Storm Hermine continues heading toward South Carolina, Santee Cooper officials say they are making preparations to respond to any power difficulties the storm brings to the utility’s customers.

Transmission and distribution crews are stocking and fueling line trucks and other fleet vehicles in advance of the storm.

Utility personnel are monitoring developments and planning staffing to have crews positioned for quick response based on the projected storm path, officials stated.

Hermine is forecast to bring several inches of rain and strong winds to South Carolina.

Santee Cooper reminds everyone to:

  • Report power outages and monitor restoration online at www.santeecooper.com/stormcenter or by calling 1-888-769-7688.
  • Treat all downed lines as though they are energized and report them to us immediately by calling 1-888-769-7688. Stay away, and do not touch.
  • Stay away from flooded areas and debris. These areas can conceal downed power lines.
  • Do not drive through standing floodwaters.
  • Resist the temptation to drive around looking at storm damage. You could hinder rescue efforts or restoration efforts and jeopardize your safety.
