MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–Mayor Michael Lockliear recently recognized September 5-9 as “Payroll Week” for the town of Moncks Corner.

This proclamation for “Payroll Week” in the lowcountry is an extension of the larger National Payroll Week campaigned hosted by the American Payroll Association (APA).

National Payroll Week recognizes the contributions of America’s 150 million wage earners and the payroll professionals who ensure they’re paid accurately and on-time, every time.

“Payroll professionals are responsible for collecting nearly 67% of the U.S. Treasury’s annual revenue.  That money funds critical programs, such as Social Security and Medicare,” said Dan Maddux, executive director of the American Payroll Association (APA). “During National Payroll Week, we thank payroll professionals for their hard work and recognize how they contribute to the continued success of our nation and its workforce.”

How You Can Celebrate National Payroll Week

A simple thank you to your payroll professional or payroll department is a great place to start. This can be accomplished through a quick thank you email or adding a note to your company newsletter or bulletin board recognizing the week.

Lowcountry residents are also encouraged to participate in the  “Getting Paid In America” online survey.  The survey asks respondents to weigh in on topics like direct deposit and mobile banking. One lucky survey respondent will win a grand prize of a free paycheck and a trip for two to Las Vegas. The annual survey, which ends on September 9, allows the APA to monitor employee views towards evolving payment trends and legislation.

The APA encourages workers to “Be Like Kelly,” a fun character who discovers various methods to get the most out our her paycheck.  The video series can be viewed on the American Payroll Association’s YouTube channel.
