BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–You can call it just another sign of the rampant growth in Berkeley County. For the first time, a major retailer is opening up shop in the small community of Macedonia.
Construction for a Dollar General began in July just off of Highway 17A. The new store sits next to the Macedonia Rural Fire Department.
“We design small neighborhood stores with carefully edited merchandise assortments to make shopping simpler. We don’t carry every brand and size, just those our customers want the most,” stated Dan MacDonald, a Dollar General spokesperson.
According to MacDonald, the store’s soft opening is set for September 25th. The grand opening will take place on October 8th, a Saturday.
“When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority. The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice,” stated MacDonald. “We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
The Macedonia location is expected to employ anywhere from six to ten employees, MacDonald stated.
Anyone interested in joining one of America’s fastest-growing retailers may apply for available positions online by clicking here.
During the upcoming grand opening in Macedonia, the first 50 adult customers will receive a $10 gift and first 200 adult customers will receive a Dollar General bag with special gifts and offers.
Dollar General currently has more than 12,500 stores and 13 distribution centers in 43 states, growing by hundreds of stores each year.
