BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the suspect charged in connection with a triple murders that occurred in the early morning hours recently.
On October 7th, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a shooting at 228 Macio Road in unincorporated Moncks Corner at approximately 1:48 a.m.
Upon arrival the deputies found two people that were dead on scene. A third shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and died sometime thereafter. All three of the victims had been shot. The investigation revealed that a fourth victim who fled the scene was shot at while fleeing on foot.
The investigation into the murders resulted in the arrest of Robert David Nolen, 48, of Ladson at the scene of the crime just hours after the crimes took place. Detectives were immediately pulled from their storm related assignments in order to work this case with their duties being reassigned. The investigation revealed that all of the victims and the suspect were acquainted prior to the incident.
Robert David Nolen was arrested on-scene and was subsequently charged with 3 counts of murder, 1 count of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and threatening the life of a public official. Bond hearing on the murder charges in front of a Circuit Court judge is pending.
Detectives worked with the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office in order to notify the family of the victims. As identified by Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, the victims are: James Harrison, 62, of Summerville; Lance Donovan Kenyon, 47, of Moncks Corner; and Harry Lee Gressette, 52, of Goose Creek.
“This is a horrible crime and I feel terrible for the families and friends of the victims. In spite of the tremendous strain that Hurricane Matthew put on all public safety resources, we were able to make an arrest in this case and I am proud of the work that the detectives put forward. I sincerely hope that the arrest will help the families and friends of the victims know that justice is being served,” Sheriff Duane Lewis stated.
The motive is as of yet undetermined but detectives believe that alcohol may have been a factor. No other suspects are believed to be involved. The firearm used has been recovered.
