BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Julius Bradley, 36, of Berkeley County, was arrested Thursday by South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) investigators for three counts of the willful attempt to evade or defeat a tax.

According to SCDOR, Bradley submitted fraudulent W-4 forms to his employer claiming to be exempt from South Carolina income taxes and failed to file state income tax returns. He evaded $8,730 in state income taxes for tax years 2012-2014.

The defendant is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Facility in Charleston County. If convicted, the defendant faces up to $10,000 in fines and/or up to 5 years in prison per charge.

According to SCDOR, the agency is committed to the fair administration of tax laws. By taking enforcement action against noncompliant taxpayers, the Department seeks to prevent unfairly increasing the tax burden on those who do comply.
