BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A teen has been charged with the recent murder of a Goose Creek man on Howe Hall Road in unincorporated Goose Creek.

On Saturday, Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced the arrest of 18-year-old Danyriel Tyre Kornicky of Hollywood, S.C. for the murder of 55-year-old Samuel Grant.

Sheriff’s detectives and crime scene investigators worked around the clock, piecing together the events surrounding the murder of Grant, authorities stated.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, an investigation revealed that Kornicky and the victim were acquainted with each other prior to the murder.

While at Mr. Grant’s residence, Cochran said that Kornicky shot and killed Mr. Grant with a firearm and fled the scene.

Detectives determined that Kornicky was, at times, homeless and had been staying with Grant periodically, authorities stated.
