MONCKS CORNER, S.C. —According to a survey conducted by MarketSearch, residential customers gave Santee Cooper an overall customer satisfaction score of more than 97 percent, higher than the national average of almost 90 percent.

The independent survey rates utilities on industry issues such as power quality, customer care, service, rates, environmental responsibility and planning for the future. Santee Cooper also had high marks in quality of electric power with 99 percent of customers satisfied. Restoring power quickly after outages and keeping power outages to a minimum both scored at nearly 98 percent satisfaction.

“At Santee Cooper we are committed to providing energy that is affordable, reliable and environmentally conscious,” said Mike Poston, vice president of Santee Cooper’s retail operations. “We will continue to use our resources to help the communities we serve thrive.”

“We appreciate the loyalty our customers have shown, and we will continue to look for new and innovative ways to meet their needs,” said Bryan Lewis, manager of Retail Services. “Our employees are dedicated to making sure they go the extra mile to satisfy our customers and these survey results show that our customers appreciate the effort.”

This year the percentage of customers who are very satisfied with rates compared to other products and services was the highest level ever recorded in the annual survey. Santee Cooper also saw improved ratings this year in the utility’s leadership role in conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, and concern for the environment.

“Year in and year out, Santee Cooper receives consistently high levels of satisfaction among its residential customers. Compared to national norms, customer satisfaction with Santee Cooper this year is particularly strong with respect to rates, customer service and reliability,” said Frank Brown, president of MarketSearch.
