Doc Williams SPCA Opens No Kill Facility In New Location

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–After losing their lease in their longtime location on Cypress Gardens Road, Doc Williams SPCA will soon be moving to a new location.

“We are opening as a NO KILL facility with free roaming cat room and indoor/outdoor dog runs,” stated director Marcia Atkinson. “We ARE taking the animals with us! Come see us for yourself.”

The shelter is only moving about a mile from its old location. It will relocate to its new expanded facility on Highway 17-A South Live Oak Drive across from the Charleston Auto Auction.

“Even though we are busy moving after losing our lease we are bigger better equipped and prepared to continue our work without missing a beat!” stated Atkinson.

Shelter employees say volunteers are needed this week to help with the move to their new location.

“Come to the new location if you are interested in helping,” stated Atkinson.

The new shelter is located at 2673 South Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner.

Berkeley County Government formally announced Tuesday that its Animal Control Department will be assuming the responsibility of animal shelter operations starting on February 1, 2017.

According to county officials, the announcement follows months of efforts to negotiate a long-term contract renewal with Doc Williams SPCA which ended unsuccessfully.
