GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–If you heard a helicopter flying over the US 52/176 area early Friday morning, it was the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit assisting GCPD and Berkeley County deputies searching for an armed robbery suspect.

Police say the suspects are believed to have committed robberies at the Sunoco (608 Redbank Rd.) and near Auto Zone (118 St. James Ave.) One suspect was taken into custody. The other remains at large; warrants were issued for his arrest. The at-large suspect is 17-year-old Tristan McGill.

The Goose Creek Police Department was called to the scene of two separate armed robberies that were believed to have been committed by the same individuals.  The first occurred at the Sunoco gas station located at 608 Redbank Road at 10:30 P.M.

During the robbery, three victims were approached while in their vehicle by the suspects, one of which was reported to be armed with a pistol. The suspects then stole the victims’ cell phones and pistol whipped one of the victims. The second armed robbery was committed near 118 St. James Avenue at approximately 1:00 A.M. on Friday.

During the second armed robbery, the suspects stole the victim’s cell phone and then one of the suspects discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim.  All victims escaped without serious injury.

A GCPD patrol officer located and arrested a suspect identified as Dayon White (18 years of age).  A GCPD K-9 unit tracked the second suspect to a wooded area near the intersection of US 52 and US 176.  GCPD enlisted the assistance of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit.  All three agencies collectively conducted an extensive search of the area for the remaining suspect that was identified as Tristan McGill (17 years of age).  McGill was not located and remains at-large.

Dayon White is currently being held at the Berkeley County Detention Center. Warrants will be issued for Tristan McGill.
