MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–This past weekend marks ten years since the tragic death of two Moncks Corner police officers.

On March 25, 2007, Officers Marcus Stiles and Lonnie Wells were ambushed and murdered while responding to a domestic call.

The suspect was killed shortly afterward in an exchange of gunfire.

Both officers were with the department for two years. Officer Stiles was a shift supervisor with the department, and Officer Wells was a School Resource Officer at Berkeley High School.

Law enforcement officers are remembering officers Stiles and Wells and all of the fallen officers who have paid the ultimate price while doing the job they loved.

Moncks Corner Police Chief Rick Ollic said, “We are all sad about this loss, and proud of the men and women who wear the badge every day in the name of law and peace.”

The department is also planning a service and memorial dedication honoring Stiles and Wells during National Law Enforcement Memorial Week, May 14-20.
