Video Shows How Inmates Escaped from the Berkeley County Jail

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.– The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance footage Monday that shows the escape of three inmates at the Hill Finklea Detention Center.

Before the escape, deputies say the inmates were placed in an overcrowded holding cell.

The video shows one of the inmates kicking out the window of the cell before exiting.

Two other inmates also excited the window.

Michael Andrew Hutto, 29; Eric Evander Garner, 41; and Thomas Matthew Davidson, 33 didn’t get very far.

Hutto was captured quickly after leaving the jail on foot. Garner was captured within one hour. Davidson was captured within two hours.

All three inmates were transported back to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center. They are all being held in isolation.
