Police: Moncks Corner Teen Shoots & Kills 30-Year-Old Man

MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–A Moncks Corner teen is in jail charged with murdering a 30-year-old man on Tuesday evening, according to the Moncks Corner Police Dept.

On August 6, 2019, at 5:35 p.m., officers of the Moncks Corner Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Shannonwood Drive in reference to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival at 5:36 p.m., officers located the victim, a 30-year-old black male, lying in the roadway. Officers attempted to give aid to the victim before the Emergency Medical Service arrived, but the victim was not responsive and was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Moncks Corner Police Officers along with Berkeley County Deputies began tracking the direction the suspect fled and put together enough information to identify the suspect.

Officers went to the suspect’s residence on Saint John’s Avenue in Moncks Corner and located the suspect and took him into custody.

The suspect is cooperating with detectives and will be charged with Murder. The investigation is continuing.

The suspect has been identified 17-year-old Justin Woods of Moncks Corner.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office is not releasing the victim’s name at this time.
