BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Governor Henry McMaster announced a mandatory evacuation of the counties located along South Carolina’s coast.
The evacuations were ordered for Berkeley, Beaufort, Charleston, Colleton, Georgetown, Jasper and Georgetown counties.
The evacuations will officially go into effect on Monday at 12 p.m.

State leaders say that about 830,000 people are included in the evacuation zones.
In addition to the mandatory evacuation, McMaster announced that all schools and state government offices in the following counties will be closed, beginning Tuesday, September 3: Jasper, Beaufort, Colleton, Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Georgetown, and Horry.
The Berkeley County School District announced that all school and offices are closed until further notice as the threat of Hurricane Dorian nears.
