MUSC Offering Free “Virtual Care” as Residents Prep for Dorian

Source: MUSC

MUSC Health is offering virtual care (online visits) at no charge to all South Carolina residents as everyone prepares for Hurricane Dorian, as well as during and after the storm.

Using the promo code MUSCDORIAN, the hospital will waive the regular $25 fee for the visit.

MUSC virtual care does not require downloading an app and is a convenient way to receive high-quality care from MUSC providers from any laptop or mobile device. The service is simple to use for approximately 80 conditions including sinusitis, pink eye, urinary tract infections, heartburn and flu.

Patients answer a few questions about their symptoms, adding photos if needed and the provider will diagnose and give a treatment plan. If the provider needs to see the patient, a video option is also included. Patients can also chat with the provider.

If the patient needs a prescription, it will be called into the pharmacy of their choice for pick-up. Virtual care visits are not a substitute for emergency situations and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get care now with MUSC Virtual Care.

MUSC Health hospitals on the Charleston peninsula have received a DHEC waiver to shelter in place for the duration of the storm.

MUSC Health clinics will open for normal hours on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Decisions regarding clinics, ambulatory ORs and other outpatient access will be announced when more information about Hurricane Dorian’s trajectory becomes available, according to an MUSC spokesperson.
