Roper St. Francis Healthcare Announces Openings, Closings

Source: Roper St. Francis Healthcare

South Carolina officials have approved Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s request for its three hospitals to “shelter in place.”

This means Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital are allowed to stay open for the duration of the storm as long as we follow certain guidelines, such as reducing census as appropriate and canceling elective procedures.

This action is intended to provide safety in situations when evacuation would present a greater risk to individuals than remaining in their current location. It also enables our hospitals to fulfill their obligation to provide care to patients who need it urgently.

Emergency teams will be activated starting Wednesday. These teams will remain in the hospitals to care for patients during the storm and until it is safe to return to Charleston.

The following is an overview of Roper’s facilities and services that will be open and closed.

EMERGENCY CARE
In addition to Roper’s hospital Emergency Departments, Roper Hospital – Berkeley (Moncks Corner) will remain open this week to serve patients. Roper Hospital Diagnostics and ER – Northwoods, which is in the evacuation zone, will close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
