BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – An inmate has died inside the Hill Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
On October 4, 2019, Matthew Bell, an inmate at the jail, was found unresponsive in his bed and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, Corner George Oliver stated.
Oliver added that an autopsy was performed Sunday, and the results are pending.
SLED and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
