BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Two people, including a pregnant woman, killed in a fatal stabbing have been identified by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

According to Coroner George Oliver, the victims are Lorice Gathers, 38, Shanique Hills, 22.

On Sunday around 5:00 a.m., Chief Deputy Jeremy Baker with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to reports of a stabbing at a home on Clarine Drive in Goose Creek.

After deputies arrived on scene, they say they found Gathers and Hills deceased in the driveway of the home.

Baker says the suspect, Anthony Lamar Gathers II, 38, was located on scene and taken into custody.

He has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and one count of death or injury of child in utero due to commission of a violent crime.

According to Live 5 News, court records state that Gathers told investigators that he discovered text messages between his wife and ex-boyfriend. This, in turn, put him in a rage and he then attacked his wife and stepdaughter with the knife.

Anthony Gathers is currently in jail. A judge has denied him bond. If convicted of the crime, he could face either life in prison or the death penality.
