BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of Friday’s shooting in Hanahan. He’s been identified as Heath Watkins, 45, of Ladson.
Berkeley County deputies responded to Foster Creek Road Friday at 12:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting. Moments before the shooting, two people were riding together in a vehicle when an altercation took place.
The vehicle pulled over and the altercation became physical. At some point during the physical altercation, one subject produced a firearm and shot the other subject.
The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has one person in custody after a physical altercation resulted in a deadly shooting.
Charges are pending for the shooting suspect.
