Berkeley County Wreck: Driver Killed After Striking Tree

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A driver is dead following an early-morning crash Monday in Berkeley County.

The accident happened around 12 a.m. on I-26 westbound at the 203 College Park Road exit, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

According to troopers, the driver of the vehicle attempted to get off the interstate at the 203 exit ramp, however, somehow lost control, went off the roadway and struck a tree.

Although the driver was wearing a seat belt, he or she died at the scene, troopers said.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not released the driver’s identification at this time.
