6 New Coronavirus Cases In Berkeley County, 7 More Deaths Statewide

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced Saturday 512 new cases of COVID-19 and seven additional deaths.

This brings the total number of people confirmed to have COVID-19 in South Carolina to 13,916 and those who have died to 545.

Six of the deaths occurred in elderly individuals from Horry (2), Florence (1), Lexington (1), Chesterfield (1), and Cherokee (1) counties, and one death occurred in a middle-aged person from Greenwood County.

According to SCDHEC, there are six new cases of the coronavirus in Berkeley County, bringing the total number of reported cases to 263. Health officials, however, estimate there could be as many as 1,616 cases in the county.

Thirty-nine new coronavirus cases have been reported in Charleston County and nine in Dorchester County.
