BONNEAU BEACH, S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified a missing boater whose body was located in Bonneau Beach on Saturday.
According to Coroner George Oliver, he is 20-year-old Ethan Thomas of Bonneau. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office dive team recovered his body around 2:40 p.m.
Oliver said Thomas went missing around 3:30 a.m. Saturday after the boat, in which he was a passenger with three other people, sank.
Officials have not said what caused the boat to sank or how the other passenger on board made it to safety.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural resources and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
