SCHP: Driver Killed After Striking Tree In Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Sunday morning in Berkeley County.

According to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell, around 3:30 a.m., the driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling east on Gaillard Road at Old Highway 52 in Moncks Corner when they disregarded a stop sign and struck a tree.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and died on the scene, Tidwell said. No other person was involved in the collision.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not released the driver’s name.
