BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – It’s not every day that a coyote decides to leave its natural habitat and do a little exploring – and of all places at an elementary school.

However, that’s exactly what one brave, curious coyote did Thursday morning, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

During school drop off at Cane Bay Elementary School, deputies said a coyote decided to take a “bathroom break” inside the school.

Deputies along with school staff were able to safely retrieve the coyote, that has since been named Wiley, from the school bathroom, they said.

“Rest assured, Wily was safely apprehended and turned over to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources unharmed,” the sheriff’s office said.
