River Flood Warning In Effect For Inland Berkeley County

UPDATE: The river flood warning has expired as of Saturday, Jan. 23.

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A river flood warning remains in effect for inland Berkeley County until early Tuesday morning (1 a.m.), according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issues a flood warning when flooding is imminent or already occurring. 

The warning applies to the Santee River near Jamestown. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the flood stage was measured at 10.6 feet.

The NWS reports that minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

Flood stage begins at 10 feet. At this stage, water may covers numerous logging roads and inundate timber land adjacent to the river.

The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Monday afternoon and continue falling to 9.8 feet Tuesday evening.
